NORTH-AMERICA - ING New York City Marathon, 2 November 2008

The ING New York City Marathon was my best marathon experience ever. If you could only run one marathon in your life, the NYC marathon would have to be it! The camaraderie of the 45,000 runners, running through the 5 boroughs of the city and the jubilant cheering from the 2 million spectators went beyond my wildest expectations and I was overwhelmed by the race. The challenge to run a marathon on each of the seven continents was conceived right after I completed the NYC marathon and I've not looked back ever since. All the excitement aside, this race is not an easy one given that runners have to run across five New York bridges with varying inclines and possible strong winds. When I look back at all 10 marathons I've ran, the post-NYC marathon recovery was the most painful one I've ever gone through. No pain, no gain, I guess.
